SJU Johnnies Hockey Blog
Hello my friends,
I hope you are well! Its been quiet…too quiet…and for some to not hear from me I’m sure is a good thing, but for the rest of you…
Happy Spring Golf Season!!! The boys have been practicing in the Dome and the golf room, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all you did to make that a reality for our kids.
It’s the best indoor practice facility in the country.
Spring break is next week, and the boys convinced me that they should go on their own for break. We don’t play for a month after they get back…so what could possibly go wrong.
When we get back, we have the kind of schedule we need to get us an at large. We are travelling to #1 ranked Illinois Wesleyan’s tournament. That’s our southern trip, scenic Normal, IL.
That’s the first week of April. Then we’ll get back and play at Gustavus and our tournament, with a dual with the Tommies sprinkled in. The Gusties, Tommies and Eau Claire are all ranked in the top 11, and we’ll see them all 2 or 3 times.
We are ranked 20th or so right now, we beat them and we’ll get in the top 15 which should get us a bid. Its been 20 years since our first trip to the NCAA’s, and we’ve been 17 times in those 20 years, second in the country to Methodist.
We are good enough…its all right there for us, we just have to start beating them like we have so many times in the past.
I’m also emailing to remind you about the Legend’s match, May 1 at Blackberry. Shane will be sending out an email soon. I’m sure he plans to cheat his way to another victory.
I sure hope you can come back for our Homecoming.
You’ll also be receiving the GoJohnnies Challenge letter within the next week or so. It’s a reminder that the on-line give day to SJU sports is April 2. Anything you donate before April 2 counts toward our total, so I hope you’ll be kind. If you want to make a matching gift to fire up the base, please let me know. I took the boys to Florida twice last fall for the NCAA Preview and the Golfweek…the AD is all over me about our budget.
And if you don’t mind, can you send me a little something to lite a fire under our young fellas. We could use that pot stirred by some serious professionals!!!
Take care, hope to see you in May!
Bob
